Lisa Fay Coutley's SWC Book List

Special thanks to Walter E. Dakin Fellow Lisa Fay Coutley, author of the chapbook In the Carnival of Breathing and the poetry collection Errata,  for her generosity sharing this wonderful book list she compiled at the 2017 Sewanee Writers' Conference.

Lisa Fay CoutleyAs the Conference wound down, I decided to learn as much as I could about the folks there while also taking something with me. I approached as many writers as possible and told them to treat me like a stranger on the street who asks them to recommend one book (only one), and I refused to give any qualifying information. The responses were generous and fun and gave me a chance to connect with writers in a new way. Where else can you build a book list from a group of such talented humans? I’m entirely aware of how fortunate I’ve been to attend the Sewanee Writers’ Conference, and I couldn’t recommend more enthusiastically that emerging and accomplished writers alike need the Mountain.
