Sidney Wade (poetry) has published seven collections of poems, most recently Bird Book, published by Atelier26 in 2017. Her other collections include Straits and Narrows (Persea Books), Stroke (Persea Books), Celestial Bodies (LSU Press), Empty Sleeves (University of Georgia Press), Green (University of South Carolina Press), and From Istanbul (Yapi Kredi Yayinlari). Her translations of the work of Turkish poet Melih Cevdet Anday won the Meral Divitci Award and were published in 2017 by Talisman House. Her poems and translations have appeared in a wide variety of journals, including Poetry, The New Yorker, Grand Street, and The Paris Review. She translates the poems of Melih Cevdet Anday, Yahya Kemal, and others, from Turkish. Wade taught at Istanbul University as a senior Fulbright fellow from 1989-1990. She served as the poetry editor of the literary journal Subtropics and as president of AWP and secretary/treasurer for the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA). She taught for many years in the MFA@FLA Creative Writing Program at the University of Florida.
