We are happy to learn that Laura van den Berg (Tennessee Williams Scholar, Fiction 2009) has been named a finalist for the Frank O'Connor Short Story Award, the world's richest prize for the short story. Laura's collection, What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us was published by Dzanc Books in October of 2009 and has already been a finalist for ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year award, and long-listed for The Story Prize. Her stories have appeared in Story, Boston Review, Epoch, The Literary Review, American Short Fiction, StoryQuarterly, Best American Nonrequired Reading 2008, Best New American Voices 2010, and The Pushcart Prize XXIV: Best of the Small Presses, among other publications.
